Summer dressing has come early!
So it’s been a while and I can’t even use university as an excuse- I’ve already tackled 2/3 of the essays due this semester, oh the cruisy life of an arts student. Instead I’ll blame this blogging absence on the sunshine.
Melbourne has been giving us a very convincing portrayal of summer, with 1, 2, 3, 4, hopefully endless cloudless days. As a result, I’ve spent most of the past fortnight skipping class and switching off the computer to laze about in 28 degree patches of shade at the local park. The shoes come off, the bra too, and I settle into the grass with a good book and some hummus.
The dress featured above is a favourite for these sunny park hangs. Made of cotton, it is super comfy and breathable, but still cute enough for a spontaneous coffee date (“Yeah I’ll be at Rathdowne Park for the next 6 hours. Just text me if you’re nearby, we can grab lunch”) I’ve loved these traditional Mexican dresses for years but had always held back from buying one, hoping to eventually do so on a trip to their homeland. Then, on a recent trip to Kuranda, I came across this gorgeous little market stall and online retailer Mexico Con Amor. The owner (or at least I presume so?), a gorgeous young woman of Mexican background, explained that the products were bought directly from artisans over in Mexico, carefully selected by her on buying trips or by her cousins, who live over there. Such a wonderful little family business!
Anyway, two more weeks of uni and then the real summer holidays start- three months of sunny park hangs aw yeah! And hopefully (definitely!) 3 months of getting this blog up and running the way I want it… we have a vision, guys, and we can’t wait to share it with you!
Hope you’re having a fab day/night!
